Thursday Thirteen #4: 13 places I went yesterday on my motorcycle

Filed in Thursday Thirteen

I was hoping to go to the Bay Area yesterday, but the 40-degree temperature and fog put me off wanting to do a 200 mile round trip. So I went erranding instead, and spent roughly the same amount of time on the road as if I had gone to the Bay Area. ;)

  1. The gas station. ($7 in cash, before I forget. Interesting: the gas prices went down to $3.11 for Christmas, and are now back up to $3.19.)

  2. My post office box. There was a parcel.

  3. Home again. The parcel was of a shape and size that I realized would make it hard to carry the other things I wanted to carry, so I dropped it off.

  4. The bank, where I deposited my last paycheck and a couple of others.

  5. Panera Bread, where I enjoyed some very nice tomato soup and thawed out a little bit.

  6. Pier One, where I saw something for my niece and grabbed it. Of course, her birthday isn’t until May, but it’s still the perfect gift.

  7. The post office, where I mailed some items and got on the waiting list for standard USPS mailboxes. No more trips to the Bay Area to get my mail! Yay! (Eventually.)

  8. City Hall, where I picked up part of my business licence application and was directed across the street to “Finance.”

  9. “Finance,” where I picked up the rest of my business licence application and other information that I needed.

  10. The library. I joined! Yay! I came out with a lot of books. ;)

  11. Target, where I didn’t buy anything in the end.

  12. Food 4 Less, where I made a little girl’s day. She and her dad were watching me load my bike with some consternation. This supermarket sells soda in 32-can trays, which are almost about as heavy as I can lift, so first I had to manhandle that onto the seat and strap it down. Then I stuffed the bog roll on my tank, under the cargo net. And the gallon of milk under my jacket. That’s when she and her dad started grinning–they seemed to find this solution highly amusing. :)

  13. Home. Yay!

Yum, I love Panera bread. They had one in the mall in Oklahoma and it was so good. Now my stomach is growling.

Too bad you didn’t have a photo of you all loaded down after the grocery store! Happy tt’ing…

Now, are you one of the bikers who visits Ruidoso every October? Don’t ask and I won’t tell you what I think of 20,000 bikers rallying less than a mile from where I live.

    Raven,
Your a riot! I wish I had had that real world experience of you packing the groceries onto the bike!

Sounds like a good day! I love Panera, but there’s no way I can walk out of Target without spending $100 minimum. LOL!

Melanie–take a motorcycle safety foundation class to get a feel for the sport. It’s done on parking lots and gives you a good grounding. Then go for it!

Yes, Don and I are definitely fond of Panera. We first went there when we were living in motels last year and it was a source of a) nice food and b) free internet.

SJR: Nope, and I would hate to be in any location with that many people of *any* kind.

I have, however, been through Ruidoso, a year or so back, during the “A Little Twist of Texas” ride. :)

Sandy: take a motorcycle safety federation class, and that experience too could be yours. ;)

Nicole: I spent a fortune in Target last year, setting up my new home. I have next to nothing coming in now, however, so I am pretty good at only buying what I need, which is sometimes nothing. :)

Wow! In one day you went a greater distance on a motorbike than I have in my entire life!

Congratulations on joining the library!! All those books waiting to be read!

I so envy you have riding weather. The ol man bundled up the other day and went out with a friend. A tad too chilly yet for this chick. Been there, done that too many times. The ride is always great, it’s the unthawing that hurts. As always, a pleasure reading about your adventures. Keep the shiny side up.

Nicholas: isn’t that because you’ve never been on a motorbike? *grin*

Thanks, Adelle! :) Yes, I don’t remember the cold rides of England with much fondness, though there’s something about it when the air is crisp and clear. :)
