Smoky ride
Filed in BlogOver at Raven’s Roads you’ll find a companion article to this one. I did two, as this was more bike-centric..
It would be inaccurate to say that we’re in the thick of things, but we’re in a non-burning area between three major fires which means that the smoke from the thick of things is hanging over everything. Yesterday we went down to Weaverville, and I took photos as I rode along on back. These are all taken along highway 299, usually a fantastic biker’s road but now weird and uncanny.

As we take our usual fun curves, the mountains look hazy and the air smells of burnt pine.

The sky is a horrid red color.

As we get a bit further away, some of the yuk lifts. (Can you spot the cameo?)

A nasty red sun lurks over an area where there is usually a lot more mountain to see.

We turn a corner for the long swoop with miles of vistas.

It’s not there. Somebody stole the view.
