Passing the shoe shop
Filed in Blog, Daily Photo
After the Fourth of July, I wandered up and down Weaverville high street photographing bikers. Literally dozens come through every hour at the weekend. The next few days’ worth of photo of the day will be these bikers.
Here, a well-loaded rider passes the shoe shop.

There’s one of my beloved staircases. :)
I’ve been looking at google maps of the area trying to figure out where some of these evacuation areas are — and boggling at all the people. There are thousands more people now between the edge of Redding (or rather, the edge has moved) and Old Shasta now. Old Shasta used to have almost no one. And there are people between Shasta and Ogo/Ino now, and Shasta and Keswick Dam.
I remember watching that area burn as a child, but there weren’t stories about people’s houses being lost: What houses were there?
It’s very strange for me. I didn’t expect to react like this.

And yet to me it still feels like the middle of nowhere, deliciously quiet with many more trees than people. It’s funny to me how many of my friends grew up here…you, Kat, and now there’s Dale (not a blogosphere friend).
Such differing perspectives and experiences.
I’m going to Weaverville again tomorrow, for a bit of R&R. I suspect I’ll be photographing a few of those staircases for you *grin*
