Toe woes
Filed in Biker Kit, BlogI got new boots-a pair of Doc Martens. If I could actually stand up in them without huge pain I’d be all amused at having my first pair of dockers at age 38. They’re big, tough work boots, after all. The trouble is that word “tough.” Wow, they hurt. I made the mistake of walking in them to break them rather than just wearing them.
Once the first lot of blisters heals I’ll wear them inside the house until they start to break.
I chose these because I’m tired of having boots that I can’t walk in. I want to be able to ride places and then walk, maybe even take some gentle hikes, without needing to cart different pairs of boots around. But I’m not used to this level of pain associated with new footwear and I’m wondering if I didn’t make a mistake.
I also need new gloves, although with summer coming up the current pair with all its holes would probably make a good warm weather pair. ;) And I’m looking around for a replacement rear peg as it’s really desperately uncomfortable to ride as passenger with a missing footpeg, and from time to time that’s necessary.

Try oiling the leather with liquid dubbin or similar. It will waterproof them and soften them.

* grin * Exchanging them for a pair the right size worked well. ;)
