Oh say can you see…redux

The weather forecast is saying it’s 50 degrees right now, and that’s something I have a hard time believing. As we came home tonight, there was cold mist in the air, and my breath was steaming as I struggled to remove my over-pants without taking off my boots first (I failed).
Tonight we went on our first night ride since moving to Trinity (with me riding Beastie, that is). It was a beautiful, crisp night with a billion stars twinkling above. The roads around here are curvalicious, but so very different at night. We took it easy, flicking the high beams on and off depending on whether cars were oncoming or not.
I wore: Jeans, boots, t-shirt, long-sleeved shirt, jacket with liner, scarf, and over-pants. I need: Glove liners and an extra woolly socks. In other words, I’m back to needing what I used to wear while learning to ride, in England, in January. ;)
It was a lovely ride. We found our place and sat and watched the fireworks from our bikes. First they played The Star-Spangled Banner–the version played on electric guitars. I approve: Every single fireworks display I’ve been to since I moved here has not played the anthem, and if there’s something I think belongs to a (albeit displaced) Fourth of July celebration, it’s the national anthem.
Other tunes included What a Wonderful World and the 1812 Overture. It’s different around here.
Back in July, the fireworks couldn’t be set because of the crazy wildfires. So they waited until now, and we hence we reveled in a glorious festival of lights.
