City riding
Filed in BlogI had to take care of some business in downtown Stockton yesterday. I don’t really like riding in cities, but I had a map and good directions and even managed to add some excitement by going up three levels of a multistory parking lot. Isn’t it fun how the engine roars in these concrete containers?
Eventually I found a parking meter. Twenty minutes later I emerged from the clerk recorder’s office with a fictitious business name statement duly filed in this, my new county, and then rustled around downtown for a little while finding old buildings, fountains and street art.
So, is there anyone out there who likes riding in cities? It was okay in that the traffic was reasonably light, but they’re still digging everything up and the drivers are even more distracted than usual and you have to be doubly alert. It’s why when I’m looking for historical markers I always end up parking and walking rather than riding. It seems like there’s too much to think about while riding without having to spot the landmarks and pull over to photograph them.
